Summer's coming to a close and we're looking to get together to have fun\, e njoy a potluck lunch\, and to learn about why it's so important to collaborate to stop the efforts u nderway to build an enormous coal terminal at the Port of Oakland\, (funded in part with a recent $7 5million dollar donation from POTUS for clean bea& *%$#!ful coal). The coal train that would come an d go would contribute disastrously to local air po llution and PM2.5 along the East Bay coastline rai l corridor (from Oakland to Martinez)-- causing in creased rates of cardiovascular events\, asthma\, mortality\, etc.

So\, let's learn what we as the l ocal health community-- and allies-- can do to sto p this misanthropic\, backwards plan from breaking ground.
