Please join us for "Adding Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience to Your Practice" where speakers Heather Massey, Sustainability Programs Manager at My Green Doctor and Todd L Sack, Executive Director at My Green Doctor will facilitate a conversation about achievable sustainability practices in clinics. We hope you will join us on Thursday, September 4th from 12:30 -1:30pm PST to learn more!

Event description: Each of us would like environmental sustainability and climate resilience to be integral parts of our medical practice but getting started seems daunting. This workshop will be led by two experts from the My Green Doctor program (https://www.mygreendoctor.org). The session will begin with a twenty minute talk on the benefits of environmental sustainability for practices and communities, and resources that are available, including My Green Doctor. Next, we'll workshop together how to overcome barriers we have encountered in our own practices.

 

Speaker Bios:

Dr. Todd Sack:

Todd L Sack MD FACP
Dr. Todd Sack speaks and writes widely on the topic of how to accelerate environmental sustainability and climate change resilience in health care practices. He edits on behalf of thirty health professional societies the My Green Doctor program that helps practices to save money by adopting sustainability and to share wise concepts with patients. This service is used by thousands of offices each year in English (www.MyGreenDoctor.org) and in Spanish (www.MyGreenDoctor.es). Dr. Sack has authored more than twenty policies on sustainability and climate change that have been adopted by the American Medical Association and other organizations. He serves on several non-profit Boards and this year is Immediate Past President of Physicians for Social Responsibility, an organization that has shared in two Nobel Peace Prizes. He is Clinical Assistant Professor at the H. Wertheim College of Medicine where his research focus is methods for teaching climate resilience and his most recent research publication is https://www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/22/3/434/pdf . He is a graduate of UC School of Medicine at San Francisco, is a past Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCSF, and he is a member of the National Academy of Medicine’s Action Collaborative on Decarbonizing the U.S. Healthcare Sector. He practices gastroenterology in
Jacksonville, Florida. Many years, Todd and his partner work a few weeks in a rural hospital in Tanzania.

Heather Massey

Heather works with the staff members of My Green Doctor’s thirty participating healthcare organizations to help their members use My Green Doctor’s practice
management and patient education resources. She also provides expert support to practice managers and clinicians to guide them on their sustainability journeys. Heather holds an MBA from the University of Dallas and a BA in Letters (Philosophy, History, and Literature) from the University of Oklahoma. In 2024, she completed an environmental sustainability fellowship. Heather brings extensive experience in customer support, environmental sustainability, advocacy, and a passion for working at the intersection of climate and health. Heather came to My Green Doctor from Amazon, where her work focused on environmentally sustainable products.
