Protecting our Public Lands in California from New Oil Drilling - Taking Action by Engaging our Local Leaders Together!!

Registration is closed for this event

Climate Health Now has continuously opposed new oil and gas drilling in California – in the interest of protecting health from the local air pollution of fossil fuels and from the global health harms of climate change – since its founding. However, the fight continues.

In July 2025, The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced its intention to review the land management plans for >1,000,000 acres of public lands from the San Joaquin Valley all the way up the Central Coast to the San Francisco Bay, by preparing new environmental reviews that could pave the way for new oil and gas drilling on BLM lands. The effort aligns with Secretary’s Order 3418, which supports Trump’s call for “Unleashing American Energy,” aimed at increasing energy exploration and production on federal lands. The order emphasizes development of oil, gas, coal, strategic minerals, and alternative energy sources on public lands. More oil drilling would be devastating for our public lands, harming wildlife, contaminating waterways, harming businesses, and communities’ health, all while reversing our efforts to slow climate change.

We will start by learning from how environmentalists and other stakeholders successfully thwarted Trump's efforts at new offshore drilling leases in the SE United States this Fall!

We will hear from Dominic Frogrillo co-founder and ED of Elected Officials for Protecting America-- for insider insight on how to engage our Elected Leaders (in real-time together) by asking them to either join our sign-on letter to show their opposition to new drilling on our public lands or for them to make their opposition known publicly in some other way. This will be an energizing gathering and EVERYONE is welcome to join (and is needed)!

This meeting is a co-sponsored by Climate Health Now and Climate First Replacing Oil and Gas (CGROG)
