Why do some leaders' stories bring us to tears and others land flat? How can we tell a story as a leadership practice-- to win hearts and grow our movement?

Want to learn how to tell your story of why you care so much about clean energy, climate justice and climate polluter accountability– in a way that touches the heart of your audience and inspires them to join our movement for Making Polluters Pay?

Public Narrative harnesses the power of story to the work of leadership. Join allies in the Make Polluters Pay community across California to focus on the leadership practice of public narrative– in which you’ll craft your own powerful story for why this campaign means so much to you– so that when you share it even more people join our coalition!

We will spend an action-packed, high-yield 90 minutes together learning– and practicing– community organizing’s public narrative model for sharing our Story of Self, Us and Now– with the aim of strengthening the power and heart of our Make Polluters Pay community.

We hope you’ll join us!

We will use the public narrative framework taught by Marshall Ganz to collaboratively articulate each of our own stories for why we care about polluter accountability and making climate polluters pay to clean up the mess they’ve created and to contribute to funding the just transition to a clean energy economy so our families and communities can be safe and healthy!

We’ll start with the Story of Self: Articulating what moved you to take action in helping catalyze the just, clean energy transition– and why you’ve taken responsibility to call on others to act.

Then we’ll focus on our Story of Us: Bringing alive the values we share– values that are at risk– which can become a source of hope.

And we’ll finish with the Story of Now: Confronting a challenge, along with a source of hope– and a clear call to action– to join us in the struggle to make polluters pay to fund the clean energy transition!

We’ll be offering a follow-up workshop, Tuesday May 20th 5-6p, for 2-3 selected people to share their stories in a ‘fish-bowl’ style, to receive supportive coaching in community to further refine their narrative.

We'll be offering a PRIZE for those who participate in the coaching workshop, 1-2 storytellers will be selected to share their public narrative at the Make Polluters Pay Rally in Sacramento on May 27th!
